We started the day with breakfast at the Beulah Guest House here in Portrush. The boys tried Porridge along with eggs, "bacon", sausage, etc. I went for the fruit and yogurt along with poached eggs and a pancake. Pancakes up here in the North are like our US pancakes, while the ones at the Carlingford B&B were more like crepes.
We tried to wait for some of the rain to pass, as it was completely unclear what the day was like, and unfortunately most of what we hoped to do was outside. It didn't let up much so we decided to just head out anyway. As we started our drive, I unfortunately realized that I forgot my memory card at the B&B, but luckily I could clear some of the internal memory and made room for 25 pictures. Plus we had Dad's camera and Dennis's iPhone.
Our first stop was the furthest, the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge. The wind had picked up but the rain was light as we ventured out, but it seemed to change every 5 minutes! It was a decent walk, but we made it out there and the scenery was well worth getting a little bit wet!
Dennis & Eric & I braved the crazy rope bridge, my dad decided heights bothered him too much and hung back to take photos of us from the other side. Here are a couple of good photos from on the Island.
Its so hard to capture the beauty of this place in a few photos, but it was well worth venturing out in the rain.
Our next stop was a slightly warmer place called Old Bushmills Distillery! Most of you have probably heard of them :) We took the tour and did some samples at the end. My favorite was the hot Toddy!
Following the Distillery we drove to the Giant's Causeway. Im not sure if it is one of the seven wonders of the world, but it is definitely pretty amazing. With all the six-sided rock pyramids rising from the ground, there were some absolutely amazing volcanic rock formations.
On the walk back I captured this gorgeous panoramic shot...
We had anticipated heading back home from there to our B&B, but we decided we might as well stop at Dunluce Castle as it was on our way back. Since we had to pay for the tour, and it was just starting to rain, we figured we would admire from the outside and I found a a path that gave for some pretty good photos!
All and all, even with the rain, it was an amazing day!!
